When Doves Cry

When Doves Cry is a tall bearded iris introduced by Thomas Johnson in 2018, offered here from Amethyst Creek Farm. This award-winning variety reaches 36" (91 cm) and blooms in midseason. Its standards are an icy white with a lemon-yellow central flush, complemented by icy blue style arms. The falls are a plush burgundy, edged with a wide, precise lavender band and a darker wire rim. Beards are white at the base with yellow tips, and the blooms carry a slight fragrance. When Doves Cry is a result of the cross Risk Taker X Born This Way, and has earned both an Honorable Mention (2021) and an Award of Merit (2023) from the American Iris Society.
