Walking On Air

Walking On Air (Paul Black, 2000) is a tall bearded iris reaching 35" (89 cm) and blooming in the late season. This reblooming variety features light violet blue standards infused with blue purple, complemented by matching style arms and a violet midrib. The falls display a rich dark violet blue center that fades to a lighter edge, with plum hafts accented by a few white veins. Beards transition from violet blue to brassy gold, with a golden throat adding warmth. Walking On Air is notable for its ruffled form, purple-based foliage, and pronounced spicy fragrance. Bred from Honky Tonk Blues x Deep Dark Secret, it was introduced by Mid-America in 2001 and has received both the Honorable Mention (2003) and Award of Merit (2005) from the American Iris Society.
