Velvet Promise

Velvet Promise (Elizabeth Rieniets, 2020) is a dazzling miniature dwarf bearded iris that brings a gallery-worthy presence to the early season garden. Its sculptural, ruffled standards glow in saturated cobalt-violet, seamlessly blending into style arms of grape juice and cobalt. The falls are a dramatic black-violet, boldly rimmed in burgundy-violet with painterly mahogany veining at the hafts, and a luminous white halo encircling the beard for a high-contrast, graphic effect. The beards themselves are a vibrant gradient—mandarin orange in the throat, shifting to imperial yellow, and finishing with violet-tipped pastel lavender—exuding a subtle, sweet fragrance. A rebloomer with a pedigree from ‘Ivory Crown’ x ‘Quaint Cupie Doll’, Velvet Promise is a collector-grade, reblooming standout that delivers both luxury and dynamic color to any landscape.
