Tobacco Chew (Tom Burseen, 2008) is a remarkable tall bearded iris that commands attention with its bold, garden-showpiece presence. Reaching 35" (89 cm) and blooming in the early midseason, this cultivar features pearl cream standards and style arms edged in subtle tan, while the cream falls are accented by amber hafts and yellow buff edges. The fat, fuzzy beards transition from bronze purple at the tip to capsicum red in the middle, deepening to a dramatic, darker capsicum red in the throat. Ruffled petals and a pronounced musky fragrance add to its captivating, exhibition-grade appeal.
