Thundering Ovation

Thundering Ovation (Paul Black, 2007) is a tall bearded iris reaching 40" (102 cm), blooming early to midseason. This variety features warm white standards with a pale gold rim, white style arms with crests edged in pale gold, and a midrib finely veined in gold. The falls display a unique pattern: the upper third is white, lined and sanded with burgundy plicata, while the lower two-thirds transition to medium gold, sanded with amber rust that intensifies toward the edges, finished with a 1/2" warm white border. Medium yellow beards, ruffled and lightly laced petals, and a slight spicy fragrance complete its appeal. Thundering Ovation is the result of a cross between 'Time Will Tell' and a seedling from 'Dream Of Gold' x 'Epicenter.' Honored with an Honorable Mention in 2010. Available at Amethyst Creek Farm.
