Sugar Blues

Sugar Blues (Lloyd Zurbrigg, 1984) is a tall bearded iris reaching 36" (91 cm), noted for its midseason bloom and reliable rebloom in September and October in Virginia. This variety features elegant wisteria blue standards and falls (HCC 640), accented by a white beard with a touch of tangerine in the throat. Sugar Blues is also distinguished by its pronounced sweet fragrance. Parentage: Victoria Falls x unknown (likely Summer Holidays). Available at Amethyst Creek Farm. Many of these varieties have been lost to time through attrition, discontinued propagation, or the disappearance of original growers, leaving only a few known living examples in cultivation. When a Guardian Garden variety is offered, it reflects that a sustainable stock level has finally been reached within our collection; availability remains intentionally limited to protect the cultivar’s future.
