Subtle Beauty

Subtle Beauty (Richard Tasco, 2011) is a tall bearded iris reaching 40" (102 cm) with a midseason bloom. This variety features light chartreuse-cream standards veined slightly darker, accented by a red violet flush at the base that extends halfway up the midrib. The style arms are light chartreuse-cream with a red violet flush along the midrib and a fringed crest, complemented by a blue hue beneath. The falls are a rich violet (RHS 87A), subtly lighter around the beards and toward the edge, and are moderately ruffled. Beards have a white base with hairs tipped in burnt amber-gold. Subtle Beauty offers a slight fragrance and is the result of a cross between Haut Les Voiles and Louisa’s Song. Introduced by Superstition in 2011, it received an Honorable Mention in 2015.
