‘Starbaby’ (Marky Smith, 1992) is a charming SDB iris reaching 13" (35 cm) in height, introduced by Aitken’s Salmon Creek in 1993. This early-blooming variety features standards with a white ground, heavily dotted and washed in deep violet (RHS 83A), accented by a 3/8" solid dark violet edge. The falls are white with a 1/8" solid dark violet edge that widens to 3/8" over chestnut-toned shoulders, enhanced by random dark stitching inside the rim. Ruffled blooms are complemented by white beards tipped in medium dark blue violet and a slight sweet fragrance. ‘Starbaby’ is a result of the cross ‘Peso’ X ‘Chubby Cheeks’ and has been recognized with multiple awards, including the Honorable Mention (1995), Award of Merit (1997), and the Cook-Douglas Medal (2001). Available at Amethyst Creek Farm. Attributes: Fertile, Historic Awards: Award of Merit, Cook-Douglas Medal, Honorable Mention
