Star In The Night (Paul Black, 2009) is an Intermediate Bearded iris reaching 25" (64 cm), blooming midseason to late. This award-winning variety features dark blue-purple standards and inky blue-black style arms, with velvety black falls edged in narrow blue-purple. Subtle violet-white rays and a short dart accent the area around the beard, which displays a unique blend of medium violet, greyed-orange, light greyed-yellow, and white. The ruffled blooms are enhanced by a pronounced spicy fragrance. Bred from Ocean Depths x Wish Upon A Star, Star In The Night has received multiple honors, including the Honorable Mention (2011), Walther Cup (2011), Award of Merit (2013), and Sass Medal (2016).
