Spades

Spades (Lesley Painter, 2007) is a tall bearded iris reaching 36" (91 cm) and blooming in midseason. This variety features glossy purple-black standards and velvety, deeply colored falls, complemented by dark purple beards that transition to light purple at the tips and yellow near the throat. Lightly ruffled petals and a slight sweet fragrance add to its appeal. Spades is the result of a thoughtful cross between Before The Storm and select seedlings, and was introduced by Napa Country in 2008, earning an Honorable Mention in 2010.
