Sordid Lives

Sordid Lives (Thomas Johnson, 2009) is a tall bearded iris reaching 41" (104 cm) and blooming in the early midseason. This award-winning variety features elegant white standards with a subtle gold halo and white style arms accented by gold crests. The falls display a dynamic blend from white to light yellow, with centers dramatically washed, mottled, and dotted in rose magenta that deepens to darker rose. Wide, blended bands of off-white to yellow edge the falls, while the hafts are intricately veined and sanded in plum. Gold beards and purple-based foliage complete the sophisticated look. Sordid Lives is a result of crossing Whispering Spirits and Impulsive, and has earned both the Honorable Mention (2011) and Award of Merit (2013) from the American Iris Society.
