Soaring Thunderbird (Leonard & Kathie Jedlicka, 2010) is a tall bearded iris reaching 34-38" (86-97 cm) with a commanding midseason presence. Its standards are a deep, dark purple-black, complemented by style arms in rich blue-violet and red-violet tones. The semi-flaring falls are finished in black velvet with dark violet markings beside the black-violet beard, all lightly ruffled and laced for added texture. This variety offers a slight sweet fragrance and produces 6-7 buds per stalk, each with double sockets.
