Secretariat (Lloyd Zurbrigg, 1973) is a remarkable tall bearded iris that commands attention in any garden setting. Reaching 33" (84 cm) in height and blooming midseason, Secretariat features luminous light magenta standards paired with deep magenta falls, accented by even deeper hafts and a crisp white beard. This cultivar, a cross of Amethyst Flame and Alpen Majesty, delivers a vivid, color-forward display with a bold, painterly presence. Introduced by Avonbank in 1976, Secretariat is a collector-grade iris with a pedigree worthy of any serious garden or show bed. No noted rebloom or fragrance. Available at Amethyst Creek Farm. When a Guardian Garden variety is offered, it reflects that a sustainable stock level has finally been reached within our collection; availability remains intentionally limited to protect the cultivar’s future.
