Satin Satan

Satin Satan (John Weiler, 1984) is a tall bearded iris reaching 35" (90 cm), offered by Amethyst Creek Farm. This cultivar features exceptionally deep violet, nearly black blooms with a self beard and a subtle sweet fragrance. Blooming from early to late season, Satin Satan is notable for its dramatic, velvety coloration and elegant form. Its distinguished lineage includes Watch It and several renowned seedlings, contributing to its garden performance and appeal. Recognized with an Honorable Mention in 1988, Satin Satan is a sophisticated addition to any iris collection. Guardian Garden irises are endangered cultivars preserved through long-term stewardship rather than routine sale. Many of these varieties have been lost to time through attrition, discontinued propagation, or the disappearance of original growers, leaving only a few known living examples in cultivation. When a Guardian Garden variety is offered, it reflects that a sustainable stock level has finally been reached within our collection; availability remains intentionally limited to protect the cultivar’s future.
