Reckless Child

Reckless Child (Keith Keppel, 2019) is a tall bearded iris reaching 34" (86 cm) and blooming in midseason. This award-winning variety features blue-white standards that mature to pure white, each edged with a delicate ¹⁄₁₆" tan gilt rim and broadening at the base. The style crests are lemon yellow, elegantly striated with lavender, while the arms remain crisp white. Falls are a dramatic black-purple, even deeper than standard color references, with a striking upper central area of white heavily striated in purple. Deep chrome yellow beards add a vivid accent. Reckless Child is the result of a cross between Reckless Abandon and Superhero, and has earned both an Honorable Mention (2021) and Award of Merit (2023) from the American Iris Society.
