Reckless Abandon

Reckless Abandon (Keith Keppel, 2009) is an award-winning tall bearded iris reaching 38" (97 cm) and blooming in midseason. This remarkable variety features standards that transition from a rich sulphur to citron yellow at the center, fading to a warm white with yellow veining toward the edges, all accented by a narrow dandelion-yellow rim. The falls are a deep, velvety burgundy-black with a prominent white to cream central area, dramatically veined in burgundy-black. Solid deep chrome to cadmium yellow beards add a vivid finishing touch. Reckless Abandon is a sibling to Platinum Class and descends from Blyth seedling L304-1 crossed with Pirate Ahoy. Recognized for its exceptional garden performance, it has received the Honorable Mention (2012), Award of Merit (2014), Wister Medal (2017), and the prestigious American Dykes Medal (2021).
