Raspberry Tiger

‘Raspberry Tiger’ (Paul Black, 2009) is a captivating SDB iris that commands attention with its extraordinary color play and refined form. Reaching 14" (36 cm) and blooming midseason-late, this award-winning variety features iridescent medium rose-beetroot standards with darker texture veins, luminous light rose-tan style arms, and crests of medium dusky-rose. The velvety dark beetroot falls lighten toward the haft, which is dramatically veined in red-black, extending three-quarters of the way out, and edged by a narrow pale rose rim. A white dart at the end of the beard and beards tipped in brilliant red-orange add a painterly, graphic touch. Ruffled petals and a pronounced sweet fragrance make ‘Raspberry Tiger’ a garden-showpiece and a collector’s favorite. Honored with an Honorable Mention (2011) and Award of Merit (2013), this Paul Black introduction is a pedigree-worthy addition for any iris enthusiast seeking a memorable, field-stopping bloom.
