Optic Overload

Optic Overload (Richard Tasco, 2017) is a tall bearded iris reaching 36" (91 cm) with a pronounced lily fragrance and a captivating midseason bloom. Its standards are a rich tuscan yellow (RHS 162B) with a subtle violet flush along the midrib, complemented by matching style arms and a hint of violet along the ridge. The falls feature light orchid-violet centers, a white ground around the beard, and are dramatically marked with strong plum-purple veining covering two-thirds of the petal, finished with smoky violet edges. The beard displays golden yellow bases, transitioning to dark burnt orange in the throat and middle, with sparse lavender-white at the tips. Foliage is medium purple-based, and the blooms are moderately ruffled. Optic Overload is a cross between Crazy for You and Smoky Shadows, introduced by Superstition in 2017 and awarded an Honorable Mention in 2019. Available at Amethyst Creek Farm.
