Mod Mode (James Gibson, 1969) is a truly remarkable Tall Bearded iris, celebrated for its refined artistry and heritage pedigree. This midseason rebloomer stands at an impressive 36" (91 cm), producing lush, ruffled blooms in a delicate light orchid-pink, both in the standards and falls, with the falls elegantly etched over a soft pink ground. The effect is painterly and almost iridescent, with a fine tracery of deeper pink etching that lends a sophisticated, gallery-worthy finish. A white beard tipped in orange provides a luminous accent, making each flower a memorable centerpiece in any garden. Bred from 'April Melody' and a select seedling, Mod Mode is prized for its ideal form, well-branched stalks, and exhibition-grade presence. Its reblooming habit has been reported in California, offering encore performances in suitable climates (USDA Zones: Unknown).
