Misty Twilight

Misty Twilight (Monty Byers, 1987) is a remarkable tall bearded iris that commands attention with its heavily ruffled, pale violet-blue blooms and a luminous misty green-white center on the falls. Standing at 38" (97 cm), this midseason to late bloomer is celebrated for its reliable reblooming habit and a subtle, sweet fragrance that enhances its garden appeal. The medium blue beard, tipped with yellow in the throat, adds a painterly touch to its already captivating palette. With its pedigree from Violet Miracle and Cease-Fire x Sky Hooks, Misty Twilight is a collector-grade, field-stopping addition to any landscape, offered by Amethyst Creek Farm. Guardian Garden irises are endangered cultivars preserved through long-term stewardship rather than routine sale. Many of these varieties have been lost to time through attrition, discontinued propagation, or the disappearance of original growers, leaving only a few known living examples in cultivation. When a Guardian Garden variety is offered, it reflects that a sustainable stock level has finally been reached within our collection; availability remains intentionally limited to protect the cultivar’s future. We encourage collectors who value historic preservation to support the continued safeguarding of rare and endangered irises by joining the Historic Iris Preservation Society.
