Mister Mistoffelees

Mister Mistoffelees (Paul Black, 2013) is a captivating SDB iris that commands attention with its bold, graphic color play and refined form. Reaching 15.5" (39 cm), this midseason to very late bloomer features luminous white standards dramatically edged with a wide indigo-violet plicata band, while the falls echo the white ground with dark plum haft edges, intricate veining, and a vivid indigo-violet band that narrows toward the edge. The indigo style arms with plum accents and the multi-toned beards—ranging from dark brown in the throat to mid-light brown at the tips, with violet-blue bases—add painterly detail. Noteworthy for its pronounced sweet fragrance and remarkable pedigree (a sibling to 'Total Denial' x 'Vivaldi'), Mister Mistoffelees is a show garden quality, Honorable Mention-winning iris that brings a gallery-worthy, statement-making presence to any bed or border. Available at Amethyst Creek Farm. Attributes: Edge Trim, Veining Awards: Honorable Mention
