Mescalero Chief

Mescalero Chief (Jim Hedgecock, 1993) is a truly memorable Tall Bearded iris, reaching an impressive 40" (103 cm) and blooming midseason. Its dark purple standards rise above dramatic falls, which feature deep maroon hafts and bold, electric blue ray patterns extending to rich maroon edges. The burnt gold beards are accentuated by a unique 1" blue horn, while ruffled petals and a slight sweet fragrance add to its refined appeal. Bred from Sky Hooks x Soul Music, Mescalero Chief is a gallery-worthy, pattern-forward showpiece that brings dynamic color and sculptural presence to any garden. Seedling #84-1-Q. Available from Amethyst Creek Farm. Attributes: Edge Trim, Fragrant, Historic, Novelty, Ruffled, Space Age
