Mendacity

Mendacity (Keith Keppel, 2017) is a tall bearded iris reaching 35" (89 cm), introduced in 2018. This early-blooming variety features standards with a yellow-green cast and a faint lavender-white medial line, complemented by yellow-green style arms with subtle mauve sanding and veining. The falls display a rich violet center, deepening to a grape juice hue at the edges, accented by paler veining and a delicate beige rim. Haft areas are intricately peppered purple to olive brown, while the beards are goldenrod in the throat and middle, ending in white. Mendacity is a luminata-plicata pattern, bred from Reckless Abandon x Montmartre, and was awarded an Honorable Mention in 2021. Available at Amethyst Creek Farm.
