Marksman

Marksman (Marky Smith, 1997) is a standout SDB iris introduced by Aitkens Salmon Creek in 1999. This 13" (33 cm) midseason bloomer features vibrant hot orange standards (between RHS 21C and 163C), pale orange style arms, and crests of intense hot orange. The falls are a subtly smoked hot orange (22A to 163A), complemented by vivid vermilion beards (30A). The blooms are ruffled and carry a slight spicy fragrance. Marksman is the result of a complex cross involving Tweety Bird and B. Jones seedling 415-5. Recognized for its exceptional qualities, it has received the Honorable Mention (2001), Award of Merit (2003), and the prestigious Cook-Douglas Medal (2005). Available at Amethyst Creek Farm.
