Many Happy Returns

‘Many Happy Returns’ (Hollingsworth, 1986) is a distinguished herbaceous hybrid peony, the result of a 3-species cross (Nippon Splendor x Good Cheer). This mid-season variety features a unique Japanese to bomb form, with medium-height, upright plants and wavy, extra-divided leaflets that increase rapidly. The abundant brick red blooms are accented by yellow-edged collar petalodes, creating a vivid and memorable display. The center ball develops as the flower matures, and pollen is visible at the petalode edges. ‘Many Happy Returns’ is celebrated for its superior landscape performance, earning the American Peony Society’s Gold Medal in 2007 and the Award of Landscape Merit in 2009. First bloomed in 1979. Available at Amethyst Creek Farm.
