Lightning Streak

Lightning Streak is a remarkable tall bearded iris introduced by James Gibson (Cooleys Gardens, 1993), celebrated for its dynamic, pattern-forward blooms. Reaching 34" (86 cm) and blooming in the early midseason, this cultivar commands attention with caramel standards over an orange ground and falls of orange-yellow, dramatically marked by a red-brown plicata pattern that simulates bold, lightning-like stripes. The red-brown plicata edge and vibrant yellow-orange beards add to its arresting, high-contrast appeal. Lightly ruffled petals enhance its sculptural, exhibition-grade presence. With a pedigree from 'Yellow Brick Road' and a sibling to 'Mountain Melody,' Lightning Streak is a field-stopping, Honorable Mention winner (1996) and a true centerpiece for any collector or show garden.
