Lightning Rod

Lightning Rod (David Toth, 2020) is a gallery-worthy Tall Bearded iris that delivers a dramatic visual punch in the garden. Towering at 38" (97 cm) and blooming midseason, this cultivar features painterly mulberry purple standards flecked and streaked with lighter purple, creating a high-contrast, graphic effect. The style arms continue the purple motif, while the medium purple falls are enlivened by light purple flecks and a refined light mulberry rim. Vivid tangerine beards in the throat fade to white at the ends, accentuated by extraordinary long, fuzzy purple horns tipped in white—an unmistakable detail that sets this iris apart. With its dynamic coloration, bold patterning, and exhibition-grade presence, Lightning Rod is a collector-grade showpiece for any landscape. Parentage: Baboon Bottom X Oasis Rock.
