Kinkajou Shrew (Brad Kasperek, 1999) is a remarkable tall bearded iris that commands attention with its bold, painterly coloration and pronounced fragrance. Reaching 38" (97 cm), this early to midseason bloomer features large, ruffled flowers with red-purple standards (RHS 72B) dramatically streaked with white and occasional red-purple dots. The falls are a deeper beetroot purple (71A) with striking white streaks and luminous golden yellow hafts, all accented by vivid cadmium orange beards. With its graphic, high-contrast patterning and dynamic presence, Kinkajou Shrew is a true garden showpiece and a conversation-starting addition to any landscape. Awarded Honorable Mention in 2002 and Award of Merit in 2006, this cultivar is a testament to its pedigree (Gnus Flash X Footloose) and hybridizer’s vision. Available at Amethyst Creek Farm.
