Karakul

Karakul (Keith Keppel, 2023) is a remarkable tall bearded iris that commands attention with its dramatic, color-forward presence. Reaching 34" in height and blooming midseason to late, Karakul features urania blue standards shifting to deep eggplant, complemented by elderberry style arms and a painterly touch of pale wisteria on the lower wing. The falls are a rich, dark fluorite violet with a luminous, blackish sheen, while the beards glow light yellow with a dark violet base in the throat, transitioning to dark violet-tipped blue-white. With its bold, sculptural form and pedigree-worthy lineage, Karakul is a true garden showpiece—perfect for collectors and anyone seeking a statement-making, exhibition-grade iris.
