Jitterbug

Jitterbug (Keith Keppel, 1987) is a tall bearded iris reaching 35" (89 cm) and blooming early in the season. This award-winning variety features sunflower yellow standards and falls with a sunflower to chrome lemon ground, overlaid by a light rayed wash of zanzibar. The beard ranges from goldenrod to bronze yellow, and the blooms offer a slight sweet fragrance. Jitterbug is a result of careful hybridizing, with parentage including Rancho Rose and Rustic Dance. Honored with an AIS Honorable Mention in 1990, Jitterbug is available at Amethyst Creek Farm. When a Guardian Garden variety is offered, it reflects that a sustainable stock level has finally been reached within our collection; availability remains intentionally limited to protect the cultivar’s future.
