Istanbul

Istanbul (Monty Byers, 1989) is a tall bearded iris reaching 34" (86 cm), introduced by Moonshine Gardens in 1990. This reblooming variety offers midseason blooms with a unique color pattern: clear Tuscan yellow standards and warm white falls, accented by a yellow glow at the hafts. The falls are overlaid with deep, bright red-purple stripes on the upper third, which gradually soften and transition to a narrow, pale reddish stitched edge with a hint of tan. The blooms feature ruffled petals, an Indian yellow beard, and a slight spicy/musky fragrance. Parentage: Broadway X Earl Of Essex. Available at Amethyst Creek Farm.
