Inspiration Point

Inspiration Point (James Gibson, 1982) is a tall bearded iris reaching 38" (96 cm) and blooming in the late midseason. This beautifully shaped and ruffled plicata features standards in a unique blend of smoky violet and brown over a yellow ground, veined with dark violet. The falls display intricate smoky violet stitching on a yellow band with a distinct white signal, complemented by a brownish yellow beard. With good branching and bud count, its 6"x5" blooms create a memorable focal point in the garden. Guardian Garden irises are endangered cultivars preserved through long-term stewardship rather than routine sale. Many of these varieties have been lost to time through attrition, discontinued propagation, or the disappearance of original growers, leaving only a few known living examples in cultivation. When a Guardian Garden variety is offered, it reflects that a sustainable stock level has finally been reached within our collection; availability remains intentionally limited to protect the cultivar’s future.
