Howla Pena

Howla Pena (Tom Burseen, 2017) is a tall bearded iris reaching 36" (91 cm), blooming from early to late season. This award-winning variety features standards in burnt orange overlaid with copper-red, complemented by gold style arms washed with burnt orange. The falls are a deep coppery-red, often appearing slightly darker than the standards and framed by a lighter copper halo. Beards are a vivid burnt red-orange. The blooms are round, heavily ruffled, and carry a slight musky fragrance. Howla Pena is the result of a thoughtful cross between 'Loco Coco' and a Burseen seedling, with a rich lineage including 'Chocaholic' and 'Trial By Fire'. Recognized with an Honorable Mention in 2022 and an Award of Merit in 2024, this iris is available at Amethyst Creek Farm.
