High Octane

High Octane (Keith Keppel, 2007) is a tall bearded iris reaching 42" (107 cm), introduced in 2008. This late midseason bloomer features dramatic red-brown standards with a subtle light yellow ground, cedar brown style arms, and wax yellow accents. The wide falls display a deep port wine border that radiates into a golden lemon yellow center, highlighted by intricate dotting and raying. A small white area near the beard is heavily dotted and lined in brown, while the beards themselves are a rich mustard brown. High Octane is recognized for its complex coloration and bold patterning, earning both the Honorable Mention (2010) and Award of Merit (2012) from the American Iris Society.
