Grapesicle

Grapesicle (Robert Sobek, 1981) is a remarkable SDB iris that commands attention with its vivid, color-forward blooms. Reaching 14" (36 cm) in height, this midseason to very late bloomer features luminous violet standards (RHS 83D) and falls edged in violet, shading to a bold, bright purple spot (near 81A), accented by a blue-violet beard. Its painterly coloration and graphic patterning make it a standout in any garden or exhibition setting. With a pedigree from Jealous Belle x unknown crossed with Regards, Grapesicle is a medal-worthy, exhibition-grade selection, honored with an Exhibition Certificate (1980) and Honorable Mention (1985). Guardian Garden irises are endangered cultivars preserved through long-term stewardship rather than routine sale.
