Golly Gee Whiz

Golly Gee Whiz (Tom Burseen, 2002) is a remarkable tall bearded iris that commands attention with its bold, color-forward presence. Reaching 36" (91 cm) and blooming midseason, this cultivar features luminous light lavender blue standards and style arms washed in purple, contrasted by vivid rust red falls edged in gold and accented with dramatic burgundy veining near the beard. The beards themselves transition from yellow gold in the throat to a soft lavender at the tips, all set off by ruffled, flared petals and a sweet fragrance. With its painterly coloration, sculptural form, and memorable pedigree, Golly Gee Whiz is a garden-showpiece and a collector-grade addition for any iris enthusiast. Honored with an AIS Honorable Mention in 2006. Available at Amethyst Creek Farm. Attributes: Edge Trim, Fragrant, Ruffled Awards: Honorable Mention, TB's Place
