Galaxina (Paul Black, 2015) is a remarkable arilbred iris (OGB-) that commands attention with its painterly color contrasts and graphic patterning. Reaching 24" (61 cm) and blooming midseason to late, Galaxina features cool white standards with a mid-yellow blush rising halfway up the rib, transitioning to a delicate violet wash. The style arms are light tan with a mid tan-gold ridge and crest, while the falls display a luminous dusky rose-violet base, dramatically punctuated by a bold ruby spot covering two-thirds of the center, with bleeding lines at the spot’s edge and a black cherry blot at the end of the beard. The beard itself is white-based with mid burnt orange tips, adding a final touch of vibrancy.
