Frappe

Frappe (Monty Byers, 1990) is a gallery-worthy Tall Bearded iris that brings a refined, painterly touch to the garden. Reaching 34" (86 cm), this early midseason rebloomer features standards that shift from very pale strawberry pink to pinkish white, while the falls display a slightly deeper pale strawberry pink blended with the faintest raspberry undertone and delicate white striations. Vivid orange tangerine beards add a bold pop of color. Lightly ruffled petals and a subtle sweet fragrance enhance its cultivated appeal. With its sophisticated color harmony, reblooming performance, and distinguished pedigree, Frappe is a collector-grade, exhibition-ready choice for any iris enthusiast. Guardian Garden irises are endangered cultivars preserved through long-term stewardship rather than routine sale. Many of these varieties have been lost to time through attrition, discontinued propagation, or the disappearance of original growers, leaving only a few known living examples in cultivation. When a Guardian Garden variety is offered, it reflects that a sustainable stock level has finally been reached within our collection; availability remains intentionally limited to protect the cultivar’s future. We encourage collectors who value historic preservation to support the continued safeguarding of rare and endangered irises by joining the Historic Iris Preservation Society.
