Fine Idea

Fine Idea (Paul Black, 2005) is a truly memorable SDB iris, standing 14" (36 cm) tall and blooming early to midseason. This cultivar captivates with its refined ruffled form and sculptural edge trim, making it a gallery-worthy addition to any garden. The standards are a rich medium blue-purple, complemented by orchid style arms with a medium purple ridge and crest. Falls are painterly white, elegantly washed with light to medium blue-violet from the end of the beard to the edge, enhanced by fine, darker veining and dramatic dark plum veins over the haft. A distinctive 3/4" white ray extends from the beard, which itself transitions from white at the tip to red-orange in the middle and throat. With its opalescent color play, graphic veining, and exhibition-grade pedigree, Fine Idea is a show garden quality standout—field-stopping, pedigree-worthy, and available at Amethyst Creek Farm.
