Felix The Cat

Felix The Cat (Paul Black, 2022) is a remarkable tall bearded iris that commands attention with its bold, painterly color contrasts and refined form. Reaching 35" (89 cm) and blooming midseason to late, this cultivar features light yellow standards finely sanded with light brown, deepening to mid rosy brown at the edges and accented by mid brown lines. The mid caramel style arms and darker brown ridge add depth, while the falls showcase a mid yellow ground dramatically encircled by a wide burgundy plicata band and a central stripe, finished with a crystalline wire rim. A white luminata style patch, heavily sanded and veined in mid plum, creates a vivid focal point. Cinnamon beards and a slight sweet fragrance complete the sensory experience. A sibling to ‘Background Noise’ and introduced by Mid-America in 2022, Felix The Cat is a true garden showpiece—dynamic, color-forward, and unforgettable. Available at Amethyst Creek Farm.
