Dueling Bands

Dueling Bands (Michael Sutton, 2015) is a remarkable tall bearded iris that commands attention with its bold, painterly color contrasts and sculptural form. Reaching 34" (86 cm) and blooming late to very late in the season, this garden-showpiece features luminous amber yellow standards with yellow-ochre midribs and matching style arms. The falls are a dramatic canvas: crisp white centers blend seamlessly into a vivid ¼" red-violet rim, which then transitions to a ½" grey-orange band, accented by salmon shoulders. Vibrant orange beards, with yellow-based hairs and orange tips, add a final pop of color. Ruffled and serrated petals enhance its dynamic, exhibition-grade presence. Bred from Bandwidth X seedling W-295-A (Jazz Band x Fall Enterprise), Dueling Bands is a collector-grade iris with undeniable charisma and pedigree, available at Amethyst Creek Farm.
