Dragon King

Dragon King (Richard Tasco, 2011) is a tall bearded iris reaching 37" (94 cm), blooming in the early midseason. This award-winning variety features magenta mauve standards with slightly darker midribs and delicately laced tops. The style arms are lemon amber with brown accents, complemented by brown-fringed crests. Falls display a rich red orchid ground, boldly veined in dark burgundy-black, with a subtle magenta-mauve rim and intricate white and yellow veining on the shoulders. The dark burnt-orange beards add a vivid focal point. Lightly ruffled petals and medium purple-based foliage enhance its visual appeal, while a slight fragrance adds to its charm. Dragon King is a cross between Smoky Shadows and Indulgence, recognized with an Honorable Mention in 2013 and an Award of Merit in 2015. Available at Amethyst Creek Farm.
