Dark Crystal

Dark Crystal (Monty Byers, 1987) is a standout SDB iris offered at Amethyst Creek Farm. This reblooming variety reaches 12" (30 cm) and flowers in midseason, with the added bonus of a second bloom cycle. Its standards are a rich, deep wine purple, while the falls are a dramatic wine black, complemented by a medium blue violet beard. Bred from Third World x Jewel Baby, and a sibling to Gray Poupon and Sparkplug, Dark Crystal was introduced by Moonshine Gardens in 1988 and received an Honorable Mention in 1992.
