Da Capo (Lloyd Zurbrigg, 1968) is a reblooming tall bearded iris reaching 34" (86 cm), introduced by Avonbank in 1969. This variety features midseason blooms with standards of white heavily overlaid in rich pansy purple (RHS 033/2), and falls of white subtly bordered by a deeper pansy purple, accented by a bronze beard. Bred from 'Replicata' x 'Double Majesty', Da Capo is noted for its reliable rebloom in multiple regions, including CA, MO, MT, NE, OK, PA, TN, TX, and VA, and is suitable for USDA Zones 4b, 6, and 7. Its elegant color contrast and reblooming habit make it a valuable addition to any iris collection. Available at Amethyst Creek Farm. Attributes: Guardian Garden, Historic, Rebloomer Rebloomer This cultivar is a known rebloomer. Known Rebloom Zones: Zone 4b, Zone 6, Zone 7 Rebloom Confidence: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Guardian Garden (GG) This cultivar is a Guardian Garden Iris. Guardian Garden irises are endangered cultivars preserved through long-term stewardship rather than routine sale. Many of these varieties have been lost to time through attrition, discontinued propagation, or the disappearance of original growers, leaving only a few known living examples in cultivation. When a Guardian Garden variety is offered, it reflects that a sustainable stock level has finally been reached within our collection; availability remains intentionally limited to protect the cultivar’s future. We encourage collectors who value historic preservation to support the continued safeguarding of rare and endangered irises by joining the Historic Iris Preservation Society.
