Cat Tales

Cat Tales (Paul Black, 2018) is a tall bearded iris reaching 30" (76 cm) that blooms early to midseason. This variety features mid purple standards with a white center, heavily mottled and sanded in mid purple, and a dark purple midrib. The style arms are a rich plum-brown edged in gold. Falls display a light yellow center covering two-thirds of the petal, surrounded by a wide, solid dark purple band. The haft is intricately lined with plicata markings, sanded black-purple that becomes lighter and more widely spaced toward the center, then intensifies again. The beards are based grey-white, transitioning to dark burnt orange in the throat, mid burnt orange in the middle, and ending black-brown. Cat Tales is noted for its pronounced sweet fragrance.
