Captive Sun

Captive Sun (Bennett Jones, 1994) is a remarkable SDB iris that commands attention with its luminous color contrast and refined form. Reaching 10–12" (25–30 cm) in midseason, this award-winning variety features pristine white standards above wide, lightly ruffled falls of vivid canary yellow, each precisely edged in glistening white—a painterly effect that radiates brilliance in the garden. Bred from 'Favorite Angel' and a select seedling cross ('Oregold' x 'Loveshine'), Captive Sun is a medal-worthy, exhibition-grade iris recognized with an Honorable Mention (1996) and Award of Merit (1998). Its bold, graphic blooms make it a true garden showpiece and a collector’s highlight. No noted fragrance or rebloom.
