Bulbhead

Bulbhead (Hugh Stout, R. 2022) is a commanding tall bearded iris that delivers a dramatic, gallery-worthy presence in the garden. Reaching 36" (91 cm) and blooming midseason to late, Bulbhead features maize yellow standards with lighter centers and matching style arms. The falls are a bold dark blood red, dramatically punctuated by a maize yellow sunburst veined in maroon, finished with apricot edging and reverse. Gold beards and ruffled petals add to its sculptural, exhibition-grade appeal. Noteworthy for its pronounced sweet fragrance, Bulbhead is a memorable, color-forward showpiece bred from Lotsa Heat X seedling 13-499 (Queen’s Robe x Loosen Up). Available at Amethyst Creek Farm.
