Broken Pattern

Broken Pattern (Paul Black, 2003) is a truly remarkable Tall Bearded Iris, celebrated for its painterly, pattern-forward blooms and midseason performance. Standing at 33" (84 cm), this cultivar showcases luminous light violet blue standards, unpredictably streaked with medium violet, and style arms touched with gilt gold midribs and crest tips for a refined accent. The falls are a dramatic canvas of medium violet blue, boldly streaked with dark purple and highlighted by a pale blue-white center, creating a gallery-worthy, graphic effect. Ruffled petals and a subtle sweet fragrance add to its cultivated charm, while the medium violet beards tipped with mink brown provide a sophisticated finish. Bred from 'Gnu' x 'Hello Darkness', Broken Pattern is a collector-grade novelty and Honorable Mention winner (2006), perfect for those seeking a singular, conversation-starting centerpiece for their garden.
