Black Lipstick

Black Lipstick (Keith Keppel, 2015) is a tall bearded iris reaching 35" (89 cm), blooming in the early midseason. This dramatic variety features standards of deep black-purple, darker than M&P 48-H-8, with matching dark purple style arms. The falls are a true black, complemented by solid dark blue beards. Black Lipstick is the result of a sophisticated lineage, including Oreo, Hello Darkness, and Tangled Web. Recognized for its exceptional garden performance, it has received multiple honors: Honorable Mention (2018), Walther Cup (2018), Award of Merit (2021), and the prestigious Wister Medal (2023).
