Backlit Beauty

Backlit Beauty (Richard Tasco, 2010) is an award-winning intermediate bearded iris reaching 25" (64 cm) in height, blooming in the late midseason. This luminata variety features standards in a rosy spectrum violet (RHS 82B) with delicate white veining and soft white edges, complemented by white style arms with a subtle lilac blush. The falls display a rich bishop’s violet (81A) that lightens toward the edges, accented by intricate veining and a vivid canary yellow flash at the top of each petal. The beards are white at the base, tipped with tangerine in the throat and middle, finishing in canary yellow. Lightly ruffled and carrying a slight fragrance, Backlit Beauty is the result of a cross between Spirit World and Iced Wine. Recognized for its exceptional garden performance, it has received the Honorable Mention (2013), Award of Merit (2016), and the Hans and Jacob Sass Medal (2021). Available at Amethyst Creek Farm.
